On behalf of the entire Sacred Heart College community, thank you for taking an interest in learning more about why we proudly have a reputation as an excellent and respected education leader.
We believe strongly that a great education is one of the foundations of life. Our Mission Statement and the values that flow from it reflect this belief and guide our every action.
I believe Sacred Heart is a school of distinction – with great pride in its achievements, belief in its students and teaching staff, and a determination to encourage, support and drive to achieve potential.
While our College is rich in history and tradition we provide a modern and dynamic school environment. We recognise that students thrive when provided with excellent resources, facilities, and teaching staff and the support needed to set and reach goals – both individually and collectively.
The school is one of several Catholic secondary colleges in Victoria owned and administered by the Sisters of Mercy. We strive to nurture faith and emphasise self-discipline through stimulating, participatory learning and by stressing the importance of guided student leadership and healthy personal relationships.
In 2003 we introduced the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Program, which emphasises the international nature of education in the 21st century, and encourages us to see ourselves as a much wider community operating in a global context. Underpinning the program is recognition that students learn in a variety of ways – so we seek to inspire, delight and challenge our students – day in, day out.
The College offers a broad, versatile curriculum to equip students for a rapidly changing world and one that helps prepare them for the next step on their individual life journey.
An emphasis on faith and community flows into liturgy and pastoral care. Students are offered a broad choice of opportunity to learn, tailored to their individual needs. Co-curricula activities include public speaking, a wide range of sports, performing arts including an extensive instrumental program. The College has an innovative approach to learning enhancement as well as programs for gifted and talented student.
Our aim is to farewell our graduates as confident young adults, determined, energised critical thinkers and self-starters. We encourage our students to be enthusiastic participants in all aspects of the College and contribute as team players with a strong sense of social justice and place in the community, and broader environment.
Watching your children grow into adulthood, reaching their potential with confidence, energy, and drive, is one of the greatest joys a parent can experience. We know that a positive, nurturing, and encouraging home-school relationship is essential in achieving this. We take great care to foster this partnership from the moment your daughter enrols and becomes a member of our Sacred Heart family.
Sacred Heart College is a place where minds are inspired, characters are formed and the traditions and values of the past are the foundation for the future. It is a place where generations of young women have been taught that success is more than academic results and high profiles but should be measured by the contribution we each make to our society. At Sacred Heart College our goal is to educate girls in the Mercy tradition so that they go on to make a difference to the lives of others.
